Foil Balloon Technical Sample Inspection

A useful foil balloon sample review separates dimensions, inflated shape, artwork, color, valve condition and display performance. Record each observation instead of giving one unexplained pass or fail.

Dimensions and shape

Identify whether each measurement is flat or inflated and whether it is height or width. Compare the inflated outline with the intended design. Check narrow sections and any areas that fail to form as expected.

For conventional UNDALO number balloons, use the confirmed height pairs. Do not reuse those figures for custom shapes or standing numbers. Numerical tolerances remain 【待确认】.

Print placement and color

Check wording, logos and other important details on the inflated surface. Look at the front and back where relevant. Separate an artwork-placement issue from a difference in perceived color.

Use the selected material and physical color reference. A screen proof alone does not establish how the finished surface looks. See the color guide for the distinction.

Seams and inflation opening

Observe visible damage or irregularity around the perimeter and inflation opening. Check compatibility with the intended inflation method. A visual observation can prompt further review but does not independently prove seal strength or leak rate.

Fullness and floating

For a helium sample, record appearance and whether it floats as separate observations. Note the elapsed time and conditions. A balloon can remain floating while visibly less full.

UNDALO’s confirmed indoor figures describe conventional number balloons: PET 5 days and Nylon 7 days before gradual loss of fullness, followed by about 2 further floating days with wrinkles. Air-filled retention is 15 days or more for both materials.

Standing or multi-part displays

For UNDALO standing numbers, the base and body are integrated: fill through the base and review the inflated display on its intended surface. No extra ballast is normally needed; add ballast in stronger outdoor wind. Other custom structures require their own review.

Record what is known and what needs investigation

Use clear observations such as incorrect dimension, unreadable print position, visible seam damage, loss of fullness or poor standing contact. Retain matching photographs and sample identity. Formal test conditions and pass/fail thresholds remain product-specific; no numerical limits are invented here.

Confirmed factory checks

Inspection covers printed content, color difference, color fastness, leakage, dimensions and film thickness.

Randomly selected samples are inflated until visibly full. The start time is recorded, samples are left for 8 hours, and leakage observations and the leakage rate are recorded.

Usual film-thickness tolerance: ±0.001 mm.

After pre-production sample approval, the signed physical sample is retained as the printing reference. The first printed output is compared with it, followed by checks every 20 minutes during bulk printing to compare color and artwork with the approved sample.

Frequently asked questions

Is one photo enough to approve a sample?

A photo may show appearance, but cannot alone establish dimensions, filling behavior, retention or stability. Match the evidence to the property being assessed.

Does floating mean the balloon still looks full?

No. Record floating and appearance separately.

Can visual inspection prove that a seam will retain gas for a stated time?

No. Visual inspection and timed performance observations answer different questions.
