amfori BSCI: social performance
amfori BSCI supports social due diligence and improvement in global supply chains. Customers may request monitoring covering working hours, wages, health and safety, management systems and labor conditions. Timing and acceptance depend on the customer program and result; BSCI is not a universal annual legal requirement.
amfori BEPI: environmental performance
amfori BEPI addresses environmental performance and improvement. It is not an upgraded BSCI. Customers can use risk assessment, environmental monitoring and corrective actions to understand energy, emissions, water, waste and chemical management.
FSC Chain of Custody: forest-based materials
FSC Chain of Custody applies to sourcing, processing, labelling and selling forest-based products as FSC certified. For balloons, it is most relevant to paper header cards, boxes and displays—not plastic balloon film. Claims require the correct certified supply chain and documentation.
EUDR: a regulation, not an FSC upgrade
The EU Deforestation Regulation covers specified commodities and derived products, including certain wood and paper products. Packaging scope depends on classification, customs code and supply-chain role. FSC offers a voluntary module that can support due diligence but does not automatically guarantee legal compliance.
Current implementation dates
Current European Commission information says EUDR applies from 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators and from 30 June 2027 for most micro and small operators. Confirm the latest rules and exact packaging scope before shipment.
A practical supplier checklist
Identify the required customer program, verify report scope and validity, review corrective actions, confirm FSC claim documents for paper packaging, and map who carries EUDR duties. Do not treat audit logos as interchangeable guarantees.
